2) Vacation is one that we think we deserve because we have worked so hard throughout the year. As it is good to have at least one good vacation a year for mind and soul purposes. Better yet, if possible, try to take mini vacations as the year goes. As I love to travel and my husband travels a lot for his employment. It is definitely more interesting to travel with a newborn and a toddler but we do what we need to do.
3) This could be the time to do all the home improvement stuff big or small. Landscaping isn't very costly and can make for great curb appeal. Painting a room is inexpensive and is definitely instant gradification! Even putting in new faucets and towel racks in the bathroom makes a huge impact in a room for a low cost upgrade and makes things look clean and updated.
4) Open a Roth IRA Account or rollover your traditional IRA into a Roth IRA Account. Even though the interest isn't as good right now, it's a good time to put a lump sum in while it's somewhat low (Buy low, sell High method). With even as little as $5.00 it can start with something and add a little bit every month.
5) My favorite of them all is a home based business. At the beginning of the year, people realize they want more time freedom, money, and/or bills paid off. I find most people are more open to looking into something that is a good fit for them.
